Two people have been killed in separate road accidents in Mayo and Carlow and the Garda have issued an appeal for witnesses after an alleged hit and run incident in Co Tipperary.

In Co Carlow a motorcyclist died after a collision with a car at on the main Carlow to Kilkenny road. He has been named as 34-year-old Mr Stephen Croke who was from Co Carlow.

The incident happened at Coneykeare, Leighlinbridge at around 8.45 p.m.

In Co Mayo a 50-year-old pedestrian died after being struck by a lorry near Ballyhaunis shortly before 10 p.m.

The man’s name has not been released.

Meanwhile the Garda in Tipperary are appealing for witnesses after a man sustained serious leg injuries in an alleged hit and run incident on the N8 near the Tipperary roundabout in Cahir at around 8 a.m. this morning.

The man was crossing the road when he was hit by a black saloon type car which failed to stop and continued in the Dublin direction.
