Two men have been arrested following seizures of cannabis in Dublin and Kildare yesterday.
Shortly after 7pm yesterday, gardaí stopped a truck at Rathcoole, Co Dublin, and a van on the N4 near Celbridge, Co Kildare, as part of a joint Garda/Customs operation.
Cannabis herb was recovered in both vehicles, and gardaí estimated the drugs to have a street value of up to €600,000. Both vehicles contained approximately 25kg of the drug.
Two men in their 30s and with addresses in Dublin were arrested. They are being held under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act in Clondalkin Garda Station.
The consignments had been imported through Dublin Port earlier yesterday evening.
Elsewhere, several thousand suspected ecstasy tablets have been recovered by the PSNI from a house in north Belfast.
They were seized from the property at Parkmount Street yesterday afternoon with the remains of cannabis plants and other drugs paraphernalia. The suspected Class A tablets will be subjected to further testing.
