Two men die in separate crashes

Two men have been killed in separate crashes in Cos Waterford and Roscommon.

Two men have been killed in separate crashes in Cos Waterford and Roscommon.

A man (26) was killed when the car he was driving was involved in a collision with another car on the N61 Athlone to Roscommon Road at 1.20am.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the second car were taken to Roscommon County Hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The N61 between Knockcroghery and Roscommon is closed pending an examination by Garda forensic collision investigators. Diversions are in place.

Yesterday evening, an 82-year-old man died in a two-vehicle collision at Stradbally, Co Waterford. The man, who was the sole occupant of one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The scene has been examined by Garda investigators.
