A teenage boy and his uncle, who were seriously injured in an accident which claimed the lives of two men, have been transferred to the specialist burns unit at Cork University Hospital, writes Karl Hanlon.

Mr Séamus Liston (49) and Robert Liston (16) were moved to Cork for treatment yesterday from the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick and both were said to be in a stable condition.

They suffered burns in the same accident in which Robert's father, Tom Liston (41), from Croagh, Co Limerick, and Niall Fitzpatrick (36), from Broadford, Co Limerick, were electrocuted near Askeaton, Co Limerick, on Sunday evening.

All four had been trying to light the way for mourners attending a wake at the home of 21-year-old local man, Mr Billy Sheehan, who died over the weekend in a fatal car crash in the county.

The accident happened when the men were moving a portable floodlight which came in contact with overhead power cables.

Inspectors from the Health and Safety Authority have carried out an inspection of the accident site and investigations by the ESB and gardaí are also continuing.

A married father of three, Tom Liston was a local farmer. Niall Fitzpatrick, a well-known Gaelic footballer, worked as a delivery man for a local poultry business and lived with his parents in Broadford.

Thousands of mourners are expected to attend the funerals of both men tomorrow.

Niall Fitzpatrick will be buried in Killough Cemetery following Mass at noon in Broadford Church.

Tom Liston's remains will be removed from his home at Knockdromin at 12.30 p.m. tomorrow for Mass at 1 p.m. in St James' Church in Cappagh.

Burial will take place afterwards in the local cemetery.
