Two explosions have rocked central Nice injuring at least 11 people and damaging several government buildings.

The cause of the explosions, which took place five minutes apart, is not yet known.

The blasts damaged the Treasury and Customs buildings in the Riviera resort city in southern France.

The force of the explosion, which could be heard 3.1 miles away, shattered windows in the vicinity of the two affected buildings.

Authorities called in special demining units to search the sites for additional explosives.
