Two people have died in road accidents over the Christmas period.Mr John Byrne, of Valleymount, Blessington, died on Christmas Night when his car collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle on the N81 at Holy Valley Road near Blessington.
A woman in her 30s who was travelling in the other vehicle was seriously injured in the crash, which occurred at 10.30 p.m. She was taken to Tallaght Hospital for treatment.
Mr Byrne (23), was due to celebrate his birthday on St Stephen's Day.
On Christmas Eve, 67-year-old Elizabeth Treanor, of Carrigans, Emyvale, was killed when she was struck by two cars as she walked across the Dublin-Derry road at Corracrin just before 9 p.m.
