Two men have been charged in connection with an armed raid at a credit union in Dublin on Friday after which shots were fired at a garda.

Two men held up the credit union in Portmarnock armed with a gun and made off with a quantity of cash. They were confronted by a garda on patrol. Shots were fired but he was not injured.

Derek Murphy, Springdale Road, Raheny, is accused of having a handgun at St Samson’s Court, Balgriffin, on November 16th. Judge Patricia McNamara at Dublin District Court granted legal aid yesterday and remanded him in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court on Thursday.

Seán Donnelly (18), Belcamp Crescent, Coolock, was brought before a late sitting yesterday of the District Court charged with robbery at Portmarnock Credit Union. Judge Bryan Smyth remanded him in custody to his next hearing at Cloverhill District Court on Thursday.
