Referring to last Sunday's Sinn Fein ardfheis in Dublin, the Ulster Unionist Party leader, Mr David Trimble, said the poll in today's Irish Times showed the effect of what he called "Sunday's Nuremburg style rally in Dublin".

He said Mr Gerry Adams and Mr Martin McGuinness intended to influence undecided unionists to vote No by orchestrating what he called "that sickening display of triumphalism".

"I think when people realise that they are being manipulated and think about it, we'll see a somewhat different situation. I'm still quite confident that on the 22nd not only will there be a substantial Yes vote but there will be a clear Yes majority among unionists."
