The trial of a man accused of the gangland-style murder of a man in Dublin in June last year opened before the Central Criminal Court this morning.

Mr Declan Curran (23), of 45 Cardiffsbridge Avenue, Finglas, is charged with the murder of Mr William O'Regan at a flat on the New Cabra Road on June 10th 2003.

Mr O'Regan was shot several times in the head at close range by two gunmen.

Mr Curran, who is in custody, spoke briefly to confirm his identity to the court and to plead not guilty to the murder charge.
