Dublin's traffic problems will be only partially alleviated through the planned expenditure of £1.6 billion, the Dublin Chamber of Commerce said last night.

While acknowledging that traffic management in the capital was a priority under the national plan, the chamber estimated that a further £1 billion would be needed to cover essential transport infrastructure projects, such as the airport rail link, a central railway station, an integrated docklands transport network and a circle underground line.
