Three Ballymena men have been found guilty of the murder of 15-year-old Catholic schoolboy, Michael McIlveen, at Antrim Crown Court today.

Jeff Colin Lewis (19) of Rossdale, Christopher Francis Kerr (22) of Carnduff Drive, Aaron Cavana Wallace (20), Moat Road, were convicted of the “savage and brutal” sectarian killing of the schoolboy in May 2006.

Michael McIlveen, died in hospital on May 8th 2006 from head injuries the day after he was blugeoned with a baseball bat and beaten by the youths who’d chased him and a friend through the town.

Christopher Andrew McLeister (18) of Knockeen Crescent faces jail for manslaughter while a sixth accused Paul Edward David Henson (18) of Condiere Avenue, could also be jailed for affray and criminal damage.
