Three killed on roads overnight

Three men were killed and four others injured in three separate road crashes over the last 24 hours.

A man was killed at around 10pm last night after being hit by a car as he crossed the N4 near Leixlip, Co Kildare. Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The man was taken to Naas General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

In Co Fermanagh, a 56-year-old man from across the border died when he lost control of his car on a bad bend on the Enniskillen Road near Swanlinbar.

Michael Leonard, from Furnaceland in Co Cavan was taken to hospital but died there later. The crash happened at 8.15pm.

Also in the North, a man in his 60s died in a crash on the Pond Park Road near Lisburn at about 10pm last night.

Four others who were hurt in the accident were taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Meanwhile. gardai in Co Laois have issued an appeal for information in relation to a crash at Ballickmoyler at around 7 .15 pm last night.

A Garda spokeswoman said: "The collision happened between 2 cars and resulted in a female passenger receiving serious injuries, four other people were also treated for injuries."
