Three people, including a woman pedestrian who was hit by a car in Sligo, have died following two road incidents north and south of the Border on Wednesday evening.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) last night released the names of two of the victims.

Kathleen Robinson (72), from Ardcame Road, Donemana, Co Tyrone, and Jason Robinson (35), also from Donemana, died following a two-car collision at Duncastle Road in Derry.

A spokeswoman for the PSNI said they died in hospital after they were involved in the collision shortly before 5.45pm.

The two people were not in the same car at the time, and it is believed they are not related.

Another female who was in the car with Ms Robinson at the time of the collision was taken to hospital, where her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

In another incident, a woman was killed by a car as she walked along a road in Co Sligo.

The 48-year-old was knocked down at around 5pm on Wednesday at Corballa near Enniscrone.

Gardaí from Easkey Garda station are investigating the incident, and have not yet released her name.

Meanwhile gardaí in Lucan, Co Dublin, are also investigating a hit-and-run incident involving a cyclist and a car, which happened shortly after 7am on Tuesday.

A Garda spokesman said the cyclist was struck by the car at the Willsbrook Road/Mount Bellew estate/Elmbrook estate junction.

"The cyclist was treated in Blanchardstown Hospital for injuries sustained. The car is described as being dark coloured, and it stopped briefly after the collision and then headed towards Ballyowen Road," he said.
