Two prison officers and a prisoner were taken to hospital today after a stabbing at Mountjoy jail in Dublin.
The Irish Prison Service said the incident occurred at about 11am in the recreational hall of 'A' wing when one prisoner was attacked by another and received puncture wounds to his back.
Two staff members quickly intervened but they were injured in the course of dealing with the incident.
All three were taken to hospital where they were treated for what are believed to be superficial injuries.

A spokesman for the Irish Prison Service said the incident would be investigated by the prison governor and by gardaí.
