Manila - Three Filipinos convicted of killing a policeman were put to death by lethal injection yesterday as the largely Roman Catholic nation stepped up executions in its battle on crime.

The country's first multiple execution in 27 years took to five the number of convicts killed by lethal injection at Manila's state prison since the Philippines resumed executions in February after a seven-year hiatus.
