A Limerick husband and wife and their 19-year-old son yesterday had a detention order under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 extended for a further 24 hours.

They were taken to Henry Street Garda station on Saturday morning for questioning after a quantity of guns and ammunition had been found in a house in the Limerick suburb of Southill. The mother and son were released without charge last evening while a file is being prepared for the DPP.
