A THIRD man has been sent forward for trial charged in connection with a foiled armed raid on the home of a Galway business family last February.

Michael McCormack (32), Ballbrook Close, Tallaght, Dublin, appeared before Galway District Court yesterday where he was sent forward for trial to Galway Circuit Criminal Court on October 6th.

Books of evidence were served on Mr McCormack and Greg Kelly (24), Sandyhill Gardens, Ballymun, Dublin, before the same court last Monday.

Mr Kelly was sent forward on Monday for trial while Mr McCormack, whose independent bailsperson was not in court on Monday, was sent forward yesterday instead for trial.

Both are charged with the false imprisonment of Julien and Emma Flynn at their home in Lackagh, Claregalway, on February 15th and with the robbery of €3,200 cash from Ms Flynn.

They are also charged with the false imprisonment of the couple’s three children and with the false imprisonment of Nicholette and Jim Carroll and Mary Murphy. Both are charged with having a firearm in their possession with intent to commit a robbery.

Judge Mary Fahy remanded them on continuing bail to appear before the Circuit Court in October. The trial date of Thomas Freeman (54), Deansrath Grove, Clondalkin, Dublin, has already been set for December 1st at the Circuit Criminal Court in Galway.
