Round one . . . fight! The iconic Street Fighterfranchise is as much a part of gaming heritage as Marioand Pac-Man. It plays like a dream and the characters are memorable. This 3D reboot is exactly what you'd want. The controls remain the same, there are dozens of combatants from the series' history (from martial artist Ryu to sumo wrestler Honda via Brazilian mutant Blanca) and the graphics are gorgeous. The striking 3D brings the characters into the foreground and accentuates the killer moves with text that leaps from the screen. Even when you dial down the 3D, the screen is awash in a sumptuous palette of colours and detail. The characters are more detailed, but the graphics (both background and foreground) are never too busy, even in the most hectic fights. You can play opponents online, or via linked machines. Great fun.
