Cerner, a healthcare information technology firm, said it may create up to 40 jobs in Dublin by the end of the year as part of an IDA-supported expansion.

The company said it plans to base its customer service unit for the European market in Dublin. The jobs will require people with software skills and a number with foreign languages, the IDA said.

Cerner set up its Dublin office two years ago and employs 14 people here.

Amanda Green, Cerner Ireland managing director, said the company chose Ireland because of the “availability of a highly skilled workforce with multilingual capabilities, a competitive cost regime relative to a number of other European locations, and a very favourable business environment”.
