A taxi driver whose vehicle was struck by a speeding car has been awarded £15,000 damages in Dublin Circuit Civil Court.

A taxi driver whose vehicle was struck by a speeding car has been awarded £15,000 damages in Dublin Circuit Civil Court.

Mr Michael Shannon (39) of Cherry Park, Rathingle, Swords, Co Dublin, told Judge Esmonde Smyth that his taxi was pushed sideways for about 20 yards and he and his passenger had to be taken to hospital.

He told his counsel, Mr Eugene Gleeson, that the other car, driven by Mr Kenneth Gorman, Upper Carrickhill Road, Portmarnock, Co Dublin, was travelling at up to 70 m.p.h. across the Lombard Street - Westland Row junction in Dublin when the accident occurred.
