A Swedish man found unconscious outside a Wexford pub at the weekend has died in hospital this afternoon.

A Swedish man found unconscious outside a Wexford pub at the weekend has died in hospital this afternoon.

A Garda spokeswoman confirmed the 31-year-old passed away when his life support machine was switched off by doctors at Wexford General Hospital.

It is believed the man was the victim of an assault. He has been in critical condition in hospital after being found unconscious outside a pub in the town of New Ross at around 1 a.m. on Sunday.

He was discovered after gardai responded to reports of a fight at a pub in the Mary Street area. The man had travelled to New Ross to work at the JFK Dunbrody Festival at the weekend. He has lived in Ireland for some time.
