Suspicious package sent to Sinn Féin man's home

A suspicious package has been sent to the home of North Antrim Sinn Féin councillor Mr Philip McGuigan.

A suspicious package has been sent to the home of North Antrim Sinn Féin councillor Mr Philip McGuigan.

The devise was removed by a British Army technical team.

Mr McGuigan said the devise, delivered to his house this morning, "appears to be a real bomb and is designed to kill."

The package was carried into Mr McGuigan’s home in Dunloy by his four year old son.

The Sinn Féin councillor said recent comments made by Unionist politicians, PSNI officers and SDLP councillors in the area had created "a climate in which loyalist attacks have become acceptable."

He said that "in doing this they must accept a portion of the blame."
