A blast has shaken windows in central Baghdad, and a US military spokeswoman says it is believed to have been a controlled explosion of ammunition.
"At this stage the indications are that it was a controlled explosion," the spokeswoman said.
The blast, which sent up a plume of white smoke towards the south of the Iraqi capital, occurred moments after a smaller one was heard.
