Accra - An African and black American conference opened yesterday in Ghana, where no fewer than 5,000 government officials and industrialists were to discuss trade and ways of improving social conditions in sub-Saharan nations.

Among the attendance are the Rev Jesse Jackson, the US Secretary of Labour, Mr Alexis Herman, the Coca Cola company's vice-president, Mr Paul Ware, and Amnesty International's secretary-general, Mr Pierre Sane.
