A student garda bitten by a heroin addict during an arrest will have to wait another week for further results of blood tests, Dublin Circuit Criminal Court has been told.

Previous tests have revealed that the 20 year old recruit, Garda John Burke, did not contract any form of hepatitis from the biting incident.

He was on his first temporary assignment out of the Templemore Training Centre when he encountered Stephen Fagan, who bit him on the wrist, drawing blood.

Fagan (20), of Lower Rutland Street, Dublin, pleaded guilty to assaulting Garda Burke, occasioning him actual bodily harm on August 8th 1994.
