A motorcyclist who failed to stop for gardaí while speeding was later found to be transporting €10,000 worth of cannabis.

A motorcyclist who failed to stop for gardaí while speeding was later found to be transporting €10,000 worth of cannabis.

Gardaí in Limerick arrested the motorcyclist following a high-speed pursuit.

The 26-year-old man came to the attention of gardaí at about 10pm on Monday on the M20 near Patrickswell in Co Limerick. He failed to stop for gardaí, who then gave pursuit. He was arrested on Sheep Street.

The man, originally from Co Clare but living in Limerick, was found to be in possession of about half a kilo of cannabis herb, worth an estimated €10,000.

The drugs were sent for technical analysis. The man was held for questioning under Drug Trafficking Legislation at Henry Street Garda station but was released without charge yesterday.

A file is being prepared for the DPP.
