Spanish prime minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero will travel to Tunisia on Wednesday, three days later than originally scheduled, to meet the interim government, his press office said.
Mr Zapatero, the first world leader to visit Tunisia under new rule, has adjusted his agenda to attend a funeral for Spanish military officials killed in a training incident, a spokesman said.
He will visit Qatar and United Arab Emirates on Monday and Tuesday respectively, arriving in Tunisia at the end rather than at the beginning of the three-day tour.
More than 100 people were killed in unrest in Tunisia that ousted President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali after 23 years of rule. Transitional authorities are trying to organise an election for July or August.
Mr Zapatero this week said that Europe should make economic commitments to new democracies in the region and form a bank to help countries rebuild.
Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak was also forced out by protests in February and Libya's leader Muammar Gadafy is battling a revolt against his 41-year rule.
