Temperatures this week across the Alps and Pyrenees have fallen back to more seasonal levels, and with some light snowfalls across most regions in recent days, skiing conditions have been reasonably good.

Pistes in the Andorran resorts of Pal, Arinsal, Soldeu and Pas de la Casa are recovering from a relatively mild spell last week. However, temperatures are set to remain cool over the next few days, and with snow depths ranging between 50 and 160 cm, there is plenty of decent skiing to be had although off-piste conditions remain hard.

Swiss resorts such as St Moritz and Zermatt have good skiing conditions at elevation, although lower runs are somewhat worn, as is the case in Grindewald. However, most resorts remain fully open, and fresh snowfalls of up to 25 cm are forecast over the next couple of days, with temperatures remaining cool.

In France there has been no significant fall of snow in the past 10 days. This has affected lower runs in all resorts which are becoming worn, and upper runs are also hard-packed. However, there is still good cover on all upper runs, and the higher resorts offer good skiing. Links in the Three Valleys and Portes du Soleil remain fully open. Only lower runs in resorts such as La Tania, Les Arcs 1600 and La Plagne are suffering from loss of snow. Some 10 to 20 cm of new snow is forecast over the next couple of days.

Italy continues to provide reasonably good conditions throughout. Pistes have been refreshed by cooler weather and some recent

snowfalls. The higher resorts of Livigno, Passo Tonale and Sestriere offer excellent conditions, as do Cervinia, Bardonnechia and Cortina. All links in the Sella Ronda and Milky Way ski circuits are fully open.

Austrian resorts have had some light snowfalls over the past few days, and the present cooler weather should ensure piste conditions remain reasonably good. However, cover continues to be poor at lower elevations, although on higher runs there is good skiing to be had in all resorts. Fresh snowfalls of 25 to 50 cm are forecast for the next couple of days, which should improve conditions throughout.

In north America, resorts such as Vail, Stowe and Killington in the US are reporting excellent conditions: soft snow on-piste and good off-piste conditions, on top of a healthy base.
