Racing:The St Stephen's Day meeting at Down Royal is a major doubt with the course currently unfit for racing due to snow. A further inspection is due to take place on Christmas Day.

There are currently no inspections planned for the fixtures at Leopardstown and Limerick.

“It could get down to minus eight tonight so Limerick are just monitoring the situation, but they are raceable at the moment,” said a Turf Club spokeman.

“There are absolutely no problems at Leopardstown and the ground there is currently yielding to soft.”

Four of the six National Hunt meetings in Britain, at Sedgefield, Wetherby, Market Rasen and Huntingdon, are subject to inspections tomorrow. Towcester’s Christmas card was abandoned today.

There are no problems anticipated ahead of the King George meeting at Kempton, with the frost covers seemingly doing their job. Officials at Wincanton are also optimistic

There are no problems anticipated at the only British all-weather fixture at Wolverhampton.
