Sketch requests flood in

It's not just the lawyers who are doing great business at the Flood Tribunal

It's not just the lawyers who are doing great business at the Flood Tribunal. Sketch-artists normally accustomed to a rare day's outing in the courts, where photographers are barred, have been busy enough with numerous contracts from RTE and some newspapers. And things are getting better and better. After a picture by one of the artists appeared in The Irish Times, she was, er, flooded with offers of work from the lawyers up in Dublin Castle.

Then there were calls from wives who wanted to surprise their barrister husbands with an action portrait of their blazing cross-examination.

The only problem is in meeting the demand. A sketch depicting a spat between two prominent legal figures which was published in this newspaper a few weeks ago prompted separate requests from both parties to buy the cartoon. Unfortunately for the artist, there was only one original.
