Six of the 299 prisoners given early release so far under Belfast Agreement have been prosecuted for fresh offences, the British government disclosed last night.

Northern Ireland Minister Mr Adam Ingram said none of them had been charged with terrorist-related offences and so had not broken their licence conditions. Charges against three of them included theft and assault on police officers. The fourth was charged with handling stolen goods, the fifth with armed robbery and the sixth with possession with intent to supply controlled drugs.
