SF critical of British inactivity

Sinn Fein has said the British government has no idea how to end the current political crisis

Sinn Fein has said the British government has no idea how to end the current political crisis. Speaking after a meeting yesterday organised by the Women's Coalition, assembly member Mr Conor Murphy expressed regret that the SDLP, Ulster Unionists, and Progressive Unionist Party had declined to take part.

Mr Murphy said: "The need for this meeting was because the British government has no idea how to get us out of this mess. They collapsed the institutions and now they have to recognise their mistake and reinstate the institutions."

The DUP deputy leader, Mr Peter Robinson, criticised Sinn Fein's call for people to take to the streets to demand the reinstatement of the assembly and the executive. He said it was the unionist community which had real reasons to protest.
