The classmates of a boy who died after falling off his bicycle in west Cork have held a special service in his honour.

Roan Harrington (8) sustained critical head injuries when he fell off his bicycle not far from his home in Allihies on Sunday evening shortly after 5pm.

He was with two of his older brothers when the incident occurred near Ballydonegan beach. He died en route to Bantry General Hospital.

Principal at Cahermore National School, Pádraig O’Sullivan, said Roan was due to start second class this week.
