The parents of newly separated Cork twins Hassan and Hussein Benhaffhaf are maintaining a bedside vigil for their sons, who are in intensive care at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Doctors today said that twins were in a stable condition which had not changed overnight following their 14-hour surgery which was completed early yesterday morning.

The four-month-old brothers now face a lengthy recovery and the Benhaffhaf family have relocated to London to be close to the twins, who remain under the care of a team of specialist doctors.

Parents Angie and Azzedine Benhaffhaf issued a heartfelt thank you to the people of Ireland for an unprecedented outpouring of support and goodwill in a statement released by the hospital following the successful complex surgery.
