Five-time champion Monica Seles pulled out of the Princess Cup tennis tournament following the terrorist attacks in the United States, the organisers said today.

The second-seeded American, who won her 49th career title at the Brazilian Open after beating Jelena Dokic of Yugoslavia last weekend, was to arrive in Tokyo today.

She was the fourth American player to pull out of the event, following Australian and French Open champion Jennifer Capriati, defending champion Serena Williams and Amy Frazier.
