Halifax - Relatives of three members of one family killed in the Luxor tourist massacre heard yesterday that a second body returned here for burial was not the right one.
British officials said on Wednesday that one of the bodies had been wrongly identified as that of Joan Turner (53), mother of Karina (24), and the latter's daughter Shaunnah (5), who were also killed. Yesterday, officials said the body supposedly of Karina was also the wrong one, and they had "no idea" where her real body was.
Relatives had planned to hold a joint funeral in this West Yorkshire town on Thursday, but postponed it after hearing of the first wrong identification. The Assistant deputy coroner, Mr James Turnbull, said it was "total chaos".
"I have no reason to suppose that the correct procedures were not followed in Egypt," he said, "but the fact remains the two bodies are not who they are supposed to be."
The three members of the Turner family all died in the November 17th massacre while they were on a trip to Egypt.
