Ryanair today announced plans to expand its operation at Frankfurt where it plans to base 18 aircraft by 2012.

Ryanair said it would provide a loan of €12.5 million to go towards a new passenger terminal at Frankfurt Hahn.

The investment would make Frankfurt Ryanair's second-biggest centre after Dublin.

It plans to base new aircraft, worth a total of $1 billion, at the airport between 2006 and 2012, it said.
