US Defense Secretary Mr Donald Rumsfeld returned to Washington early today after a four-day tour of the Middle East and Central Asia aimed at shoring up regional support for Washington's war on terrorism.
Mr Rumsfeld left Washington late Tuesday for the whirlwind trip in a bid to bolster support the United States' military and diplomatic antiterror offensive against Saudi-born militant Osama bin Laden, believed to be living in Afghanistan, and his al-Qaeda network.
The four-day tour included visits to Saudi Arabia, Oman, Egypt, Uzbekistan and Turkey
