Gibraltar - The ruling Social Democrat Party of Gibraltar's Chief Minister, Mr Peter Caruana, has been re-elected by an overwhelming majority, according to official results released yesterday. Under an electoral system which allows each voter to choose up to eight names on a cross-party list of 18 candidates, Mr Caruana's party won a total of 67,443 votes against 46,896 for the opposition Socialist Labour/Liberal Party coalition in Thursday's election - a margin of victory of 18.35 per cent.
Mr Caruana himself polled 8,747 votes compared to 6,387 cast for the opposition leader, Mr Joe Bossano.
