RTÉ has announced the appointment of a new Head of Operations in Radio.
Mr John Paul Coakley assumes overall responsibility for radio production resources and support services, production facilities, human resource management, technology and general services.
Mr Coakley joined RTÉ in 1987 as a sound operator in television. In 1996, he became secretary of the Trade Union Group before joining management as a member of the Star Project Team, which was charged with guiding implementation of RTÉ's 2003 change programme.
In January of this year, he joined the radio division as Transition Manager.
This afternoon, Mr Coakley said the job represented a "fantastic challenge".
