A Road Safety Authority (RSA) campaign is urging children to put pressure on their parents to wear seatbelts.
The "Seatbelt Sheriff Car Safety Initiative" calls on children to take a pledge to ensure that they tell all passengers to buckle up when in the car.
The campaign, in its third year, runs in all of the State's primary schools.
RSA chief executive Noel Brett said children could have a big influence on the behaviour of their parents.

"By becoming a Seatbelt Sheriff each child is making a contribution to reducing child fatalities on Irish roads."
