The Romanian couple who went on hunger-strike outside the Department of Justice on Tuesday called off their protest after the Department offered to give sympathetic consideration to allowing a number of their children who are still in Romania to visit their parents.
A Department spokesman said any decision on their residence status would have to await a general decision on asylum-seekers with Irish-born children.
