Formula 1: Fernando Alonso will be given the most reliable engine Renault can come up with for the Brazilian Grand Prix as he looks for the single point which will seal back-to-back world titles.
The world championship leader only needs to finish eighth to see off the challenge of Michael Schumacher, who bows out of the sport after the race in Sao Paulo on October 22nd.
Alonso capitalised on a rare engine failure in the back of Schumacher's Ferrari to win Sunday's Japanese GP and Renault engine boss Denis Chevrier insists the team will not gamble on reliability with the championship on the line.
He said: "It is obvious that our technical approach will not be the same as usual. We are not going to be looking for that final tenth (of a second).
"Fernando is not going to give up a chance to win if he sees that it is possible. Nevertheless, his objectives in Brazil will be different."
Renault will not revert to a tried and tested old-spec V8, which would compromise competitiveness, but instead will work on making their current motor fully efficient.
The French outfit are nine points ahead of Ferrari in the constructors' championship and a 10-point haul from the final round will guarantee their second crown in two years.
