A fresh count is under way to determine who will take the final seat on Laois County Council

A fresh count is under way to determine who will take the final seat on Laois County Council. Returning officer Declan Byrne made the announcement yesterday afternoon following four days of counting and recounting the ballots from the Portlaoise electoral area.

He said he was making his decision because the number of errors found during a recount was “significant and they could have an effect on the result of the election”.
