Cricket:Ireland fast bowler Boyd Rankin is confident he will be fit after his foot injury for the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in the West Indies. The 25-year-old missed Ireland's January tour of Sri Lanka and last month's World Twenty20 qualifying tournament in the United Arab Emirates.
But he is now almost fully recovered from the stress reaction in his right foot and is expecting to take his first tentative steps back on Warwickshire’s pre-season tour of South Africa this month.
“I’ll be fine for the West Indies,” he said. “The foot is nearly fully healed now. The plan is to start gradually building up bowling when Warwickshire arrive in South Africa for pre-season.”
Ireland begin their Group B World Twenty20 campaign with a fixture against hosts West Indies in Guyana on April 30th.
