Cricket:Fit-again fast bowler Boyd Rankin was today named in Ireland's final squad of 15 for the ICC World Twenty20 in the Caribbean. Warwickshire seamer Rankin, who missed Ireland's successful qualifying campaign in the United Arab Emirates because of a foot injury, was confident all along he would recover in time to go to the West Indies.

That was confirmed when Ireland named the 25-year-old in a squad otherwise manned by the 14 who helped their country reach the final in the UAE and therefore booked a place for the World Twenty20 alongside fellow qualifiers Afghanistan.

Rankin is one of a clutch of players who have figured in both Ireland’s World Cup campaign in the Caribbean three years ago and the World Twenty20 in England last summer.

Among the familiar names in a squad set to depart for a tour of Jamaica before their Twenty20 group matches against England and the West Indies in Guyana are captain Will Porterfield, his predecessor Trent Johnston and brothers Niall and Kevin O’Brien.
