Just 35 minutes after a two-hour suspension, the wet weather returned and the tournament referee Alan Mills brought proceedings to a close for the evening.

In the men's quarter-finals, Sebastien Grosjean leads Tim Henman by two sets to one on centre court but Henman is 2-1 up in the fourth.

On court one, unseeded Alexander Popp is tied 6-4 6-4 3-6 3-6 2-2 with Mark Philippoussis.
