The Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland said yesterday that four small packages containing radioactive substances have gone missing from Dublin Airport. The loss was reported to the institute by a licensed importer. The institute said the packages were not a hazard while intact but if opened could cause injury to a person handling them. Each package was a cardboard box containing a metal container which held the radioactive substance. The metal container had a label which indicated that the contents were radioactive.

The institute is requesting anybody who finds the packages to report the matter to any Garda station.
