The Labour Party leader Mr Ruairi Quinn has called on the Taoiseach to publish all documents in relation to the planned national aquatic centre "so that a proper public analysis can be made".

In a statement Mr Quinn said that as the person responsible for agreeing the project and "it was time for [Mr Ahern] to stop hiding behind his Minister, Mr McDaid".

Yesterday Mr McDaid said he greatly regretted that he wasn’t aware that the company which was awarded the contract to operate the aquatic centre was dormant.

On Friday night it emerged after a Campus Stadium Ireland Development board that it also wasn’t aware of the company’s status.

Mr Quinn’s statement continued: "I also want to know also what action he intends taking given that his Government is alleging that it was kept in the dark for over 15 months about the facts revealed this week.

"The people running this project were hand picked by the Taoiseach and he shares in any responsibility for their actions", Mr Quinn added.
