A police car was rammed by two masked men who had threatened a man at gunpoint in Co Armagh, the PSNI said today.

The armed men entered a house on the Keady Road in Armagh around 9.15pm last night and fought with a man inside.

The pair fled after dropping a firearm and stun-gun device and police followed a Land Rover vehicle seen leaving the area but which failed to stop.

Police followed the vehicle for a short period, but it repeatedly rammed the police car before driving into a field.

The police said the vehicle was abandoned and a man was seen running from it.

There are no reports of injuries to the man in the house or to the police officers at this stage.

Police today appealed for anyone with information on the incident to come forward.
